107 Days (Simon & Schuster, 2025) by Kamala Harris is clearly not a book everyone is going to pick up because of who the author is.

I would bet those who didn’t vote for her would get something out of the book. Trust me, I’m not trying to convince you to read it. I’m just going to tell you why I liked it.

With that said, the last chapter is one of hope. It’s the one chapter everyone should read or hear.

For people who are into politics—no matter your preference—it was fascinating to listen to what it was like to have 107 days to put together a presidential campaign. More depth is in these pages than I had read/listened to before, with obstacles to overcome I never imagined. Some of the issues are going to be true of any campaign.

This is the ultimate insider’s POV. That’s what fascinated me about it.

Harris seems to not hold back on how she feels about certain people—even Joe Biden. She does not write about him with kid gloves. She points fingers at others and herself.

Harris doesn’t say what is next for her, though she does hint that being on the inside, as in being a politician, might not be where she wants to be in the future.

The book is a countdown, which in some ways makes it suspenseful even though we all know the outcome.
