Books are those rare gifts that can keep on giving.

That’s because they are something that can be kept forever. If they are hard copies, as opposed to digital or audio, they can become part of a home library. They can be reread. They never go out of style.

While they can be shared, just remember the author doesn’t benefit from this. So, better everyone has their own copy.

Books are fun to give and fun to receive. They are even fun to buy for yourself.

If you buy them directly from the author, that’s how that person makes the most money. If you buy them from a bookstore, you help a business and the author. Or course, there’s always the online option.

I have four books out there that will make for a great gift this time of year or any time. One is about hiking in the greater Lake Tahoe area, another about snowshoeing, and one that combines those two into one book. The fourth book is an interesting read about life as a host of a short-term rental and the guests who come and go. (The full titles are in the photo above, with more info about each one under the Books tab at the top of the home page.)

If you would like a signed copy, let me know at kr@kathrynreed.com — though some Tahoe, Truckee and Reno locations have signed copies for sale.
