This marks the San Francisco Giants’ 25th anniversary at their ballpark.

It’s hard to believe I’ve been in one of those seats all these years. I’m part of a season ticket group. Have been since I worked in The City and lived in the Bay Area.

All these years later and I refuse to give up those tickets; doesn’t matter where I live. There’s something about being at the ballpark. That’s the best way to enjoy baseball. Next best is listening to it on the radio. Yes, I’ll watch a game on TV on occasion, but for some reason it seems to move too slow on TV. But I never feel that way when I’m there in person.

I’ve been to four World Series games, several opening days, have eaten pounds of garlic fries, consumed a beer at most every game (except when it’s too dang cold at night), and have had several hot chocolates.

They wouldn’t let me ride the slide—something about being too old. Fourteen is the age limit. Whatever!

I’ve walked the entire outside, the entire inside on multiple levels. The views—simply outstanding. There really isn’t a bad seat in this ballpark.

That is one thing about a game on TV—being able see the views of the ballpark from a drone—absolutely stunning.

Being right on the San Francisco Bay makes the setting idyllic. The water, the kayakers in McCovey Cove, the Bay Bridge.

Sure, players have come and gone. Some left too soon, others overstayed their welcome. Same with managers.

I’m always optimistic at the start of the season. It’s a fresh slate. Hope and belief are at their highest. Sometimes it’s hard to be a Giants fan. But no matter if it’s a W or an L, being at that ballpark is a great day.
